Hi there,

I’ve been talking to a lot of people about webinar funnels, and quite a few people are interested in using them, but don’t know for sure what’s involved in a successful webinar funnel.

I’ve been running webinar funnels myself for a couple of years and I’ve taken numerous webinar training courses. Which has been great.

Recently though I've been able to get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the best webinar funnels in the world. They all have certain steps in there that most people don't have. I definitely didn't have all these steps myself.

I'm obviously building these steps into all the funnels that I build for clients now.

But I also wanted to share with you lovely people what the steps are in the ideal webinar funnel.

Basic webinar funnel

This is the most basic webinar funnel I can imagine.

You've got traffic coming from somewhere (website or email list let's say). Then after they sign up they can can attend if they remember. At the end you point them to a sales page and if they buy they go to an order confirmation page.

Pretty simple.
The problem with that funnel is that people might drop out at lots of different points:
  • They might not remember to turn up
  • They might not finish the webinar
  • If they turn up they might not go to the sales page
  • If they go to the sales page and add to cart they might not finish checking out

So we want to add in some emails to support them through the process

Let's add some reminder emails

We've added:
  • a confirmation email
  • some reminder emails to get them to show up to the webinar
  • emails to get them back to the sales page after the webinar
  • abandoned cart email

Now people are more likely to:
  • remember to attend the webinar
  • go to the sales page
  • finish checking out

But what if they don't attend the webinar?
If they don’t attend the webinar, you will be throwing some Facebook retargeting ads and emails at them to get them to watch the replay. After they watch the replay, you are going to send them the post-webinar email sequence and show them retargeting ads to get them to the sales page.

Testimonial & add to cart FB ads
If they go to the sales page but they don’t buy, you are going to want to show them a specific type of Facebook ads – testimonial ads.
If they add to cart, but they don’t buy straight away, then you want to show them add to cart ads

What if they want to spend more money?
If someone goes to the sales page and they add to cart, and add in their credit card details, you should offer them something extra – an order bump. If they don’t buy the full-price offer, then you should offer them a reduced option one. You could even have a second, different order bump after that. At the end, they reach the order confirmation page.

Emails with useful content
After they’ve bought, you want to send them an email sequence with useful content that will occasionally point them to the sales page, so they can buy more.

So how this ideal webinar funnel look like:

The normal reaction I get when I show people this is first "that's really impressive" and secondly "it's overwhelming and looks like lots of work".

The reason it looks like a lot of work is because it's a lot of work. It's complicated. There's a ton of automation to set up. You need all the content. It takes lots of time.

Of course you don't have to do all of this to make a successful webinar funnel.

But this is the ideal. This is the best of what's working right now.

I try to keep these Thursday emails short and digestible, so to understand all of this better, please watch this video where I explain how everything works.

I have also written a blog post about this for Demio and you can read it here.
